How it works
Five steps from first call to payment
Austral works in a partnership model alongside the trustee, attorney or owner, who stays in control of what is sold. There are no fees to the estate or the business. The whole process typically takes 3 to 6 weeks from the first call, and court approval, where required, can add time.
The five steps
Step 1: Intro call
A short conversation about the company, the situation and the timeline.
- Who acts
- Austral, with the owner, trustee or attorney.
- Timing
- About 30 minutes.
Step 2: Asset inventory and free estimate
Austral lists the systems that may hold saleable data assets. You complete a few short intake forms, and Austral shares a clear estimate of what the data assets could bring. The estimate is free and is not a guarantee.
- Who acts
- Austral leads. The owner or trustee confirms which systems exist and completes the forms.
- Timing
- Confirmed with you after the first call.
Step 3: Preservation into controlled storage
Austral helps set up a mass download of systems into storage the owner or trustee controls, so records are preserved before accounts are shut off.
- Who acts
- The owner or trustee holds access and approves. Austral helps set it up.
- Timing
- Confirmed with you after the first call.
Step 4: Privacy review and buyer match
Personal and sensitive information is reviewed and removed before any sale. A specialist will contact the owner to run the review, and the owner or trustee decides which systems are included and how information is anonymized. Austral will make sure the review happens. Customer payment details, negotiated pricing terms, and lender and banking records stay out entirely, and management approves exactly what is shared before anything leaves the company. Austral then matches the assets to a US-based buyer.
- Who acts
- A specialist, with the owner or trustee. Austral coordinates the buyer match.
- Timing
- Confirmed with you after the first call.
Step 5: Agreement, approval and payment
A license agreement with the buyer, court approval where required, and payment.
- Who acts
- The owner or trustee signs, with counsel. The court approves where required.
- Timing
- Confirmed with you after the first call.
